Writer Expected time to read 2 min Flo Health, the women’s health app worldwide with 73 million monthly active users and the first European femtech to be valued at over one billion USD, announced the appointments of three cybersecurity leaders to its Privacy & Security Advisory Board: Chief Information Security Officer of Teladoc, Sara Hall; Chief Security Officer of SAP Fioneer, Oran Hollander; and former Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Manchester, Heather Lowrie. With these appointments, Flo remains focused on protecting its 73M monthly active users’ data at the highest level. Sara Hall: currently the Chief Information Security Officer at Teladoc, Hall brings over 20 years of experience in cybersecurity leadership, including as CISO at Human Longevity and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Her extensive expertise aligns with Flo's commitment to protecting sensitive health data Oran Hollander: a seasoned expert in information security, Hollander brings over 20 years of experience in developing innovative strategies for startups and scaleups in the tech and healthcare industry. He currently serves as the Chief Security Officer at SAP Fioneer and was previously CISO at Babylon Health and Telefonica, as well as at large B2C businesses Heather Lowrie: recognised as ‘CISO of the Year 2024’ at SC Awards Europe, Lowrie is an award-winning technology leader with a proven track record across the government and private sectors. Lowrie was the first Chief Information Security officer for the University of Manchester and has successfully directed cybersecurity initiatives and crisis responses The addition of these Advisory Board members further supports the work of Flo’s award-winning data protection team. Flo Health's Vice President of Privacy and Data Protection Officer, Sue Khan, was recently honoured with the Outstanding Data Protection Officer Award at the PICCASO Awards, the most prestigious recognition in privacy. Sue was also a nominee for the In-House Inspirational Woman in Law award with the Next 100 Years. Flo’s VP of Security, Laure Lydon, was also named a finalist for the Women in Tech Global Awards 2024 - Cybersecurity Leader of the Year. “Adding additional, highly regarded professionals to our Privacy & Security Advisory Board reflects our unwavering commitment to user privacy,” said Sue Khan. “As we navigate an evolving digital landscape, their solid expertise will support our mission to build a better future for female health, while protecting our users and empowering them with knowledge about their rights.” Flo is the first female health app to achieve dual ISO 27701 (privacy) and ISO 27001 (security) certifications, the international gold standard for privacy and security. Flo also pioneered the launch of its Anonymous Mode feature, enabling users to use the app without linking personal information. The feature is based on the principle that users should feel empowered to access medically credible information without concern. Flo has since open-sourced the technology behind Anonymous Mode, sharing part of its intellectual property with the global femtech ecosystem, in order to encourage broader adoption of privacy-enhancing technology in the industry. Anonymous Mode has garnered significant recognition, including being named one of Fast Company’s 2023 World Changing Ideas, TIME’s Best Inventions of 2023, and winning the IAPP’s Privacy Innovation Award.
