It added that the matching module production workshop has also been completed. Part of AIKO’s 30 GW high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cell and module production base in Jinan City, the facility is expected to begin production of n-type ABC cells and modules by the end of this year. AIKO has committed about RMB 36 billion ($4.95 billion) in investment for the base, which is scheduled to be completed in 2029. Last month, test data from CPVT revealed that AIKO’s ABC modules outperformed TOPCon modules in offshore settings (see China Solar PV News Snippets ). AIKO and Gokin Solar’s BC collaboration AIKO Solar and silicon wafer manufacturer Gokin Solar have announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop the BC (Back Contact) product ecosystem. Under the agreement, the 2 companies will leverage Gokin’s strengths in silicon wafer manufacturing and module packaging to collaborate in 3 key areas: silicon wafers, cells, and modules. The partnership aims to scale up the production of BC modules. Additionally, both companies will integrate sales channels and customer resources to strengthen joint brand promotion and expand their reach in both domestic and international photovoltaic markets, fostering the widespread application of BC modules in distributed solar and large-scale solar projects. Last week, AIKO disclosed in a release that it targets to ship over 20 GW of BC modules in 2025 (see China Solar PV News Snippets ). Canadian Solar repurchases 1.43% of its shares Canadian Solar has announced that between April 8 and November 30, 2024, the company repurchased a total of 52,700,000 of its ordinary shares (A shares) through centralized bidding, representing 1.43% of its total shares for about RMB 566.20 million ($77.85 million) (excluding transaction fees). The company plans to use these repurchased shares for its stock incentive and/or employee stock ownership plans. Canadian Solar also plans to initiate a new round of share repurchases, with the repurchased shares to be fully canceled, reducing the company’s registered capital. RenShine’s single-junction perovskite modules achieve19.27% efficiency Perovskite solar cell manufacturer RenShine Solar has announced that its single-junction perovskite solar module, measuring 1.2 x 0.6 m with a total area of 0.72 m2, has achieved a conversion efficiency of 19.27%, certified by the China National Institute of Metrology. It achieved an effective area efficiency of 21.36%. The company claims this is a new world record for commercial perovskite modules. The module, with a maximum power output of 138.8 W and an open-circuit voltage of 105.0 V, was produced on RenShine Solar’s 150 MW perovskite production line, which commenced operations in January 2024. Early last month, RenShine announced that its all-perovskite tandem cell achieved a steady-state power conversion efficiency of 30.1% (see China Solar PV News Snippets ). TonyShare to raise funds for 30,000-ton solar ribbon facility TonyShare Technology has announced that it plans to raise up to RMB 150 million ($20.63 million) by issuing shares to specific investors. The funds will be used to support the construction of a 30,000-ton annual production facility for solar ribbons, as well as to supplement working capital. The company plans to acquire land and build a new factory dedicated to the production of various types of solar ribbons, including 0BB, HJT, BC, SMBB, reflective busbar, and black busbar ribbons. With a target construction period of 48 months, the factory is expected to be completed by December 2027.
