Nexen Tire Unveils Innovative Future Mobility Concept Tire in Collaboration with KIDP

Jan 20, 2025

Nexen Tire Unveils Innovative Future Mobility Concept Tire in Collaboration with KIDP Print Editor Michael Herh Nexen Tire's next-generation mobility concept tire design (Photo courtesy of Nexen Tire) Nexen Tire has unveiled a next-generation future mobility concept tire, developed in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP). The innovative design is being exhibited at "The Nexen University" in Magok, western Seoul, and is also shared with the public through various social media channels. This year, the project involved 10 outstanding talents selected from major universities in Korea, who collaborated for six months. This project brought together the students' creativity and technical knowledge to give birth to new mobility ideas. The collaboration with KIDP, a government-affiliated organization that promotes research and development in industrial design and supports design businesses, reflects the shared vision of both parties to create innovative and future-oriented mobility solutions beyond mere design improvements. The winning project is a separable and combinable public transportation system circulating between urban outskirts and centers. This mobility concept proposes a new form of public transportation connecting future urban centers and outskirts. The design features tires on all sides for boarding, alighting, and transferring, allowing free combination and separation between mobility units. The concept includes omni-wheel technology that enables 360-degree directional change, maximizing mobility. A Nexen Tire representative stated, "The passion and innovative ideas of young talents greatly inspire our technology development, and such projects play an important role in discovering ideas and developing solutions to lead the next-generation mobility market."
