News by Jess Ruderman Added 1 hour ago NEW YORK: Reusable water-bottle brand Cirkul has brought on MikeWorldWide as its PR AOR. MWW started working with the company in October, focusing on consumer PR and establishing executive recognition to build the brand nationally, as well as strategy for cultural event activations, according to the agency. MWW president Bret Werner is overseeing the account alongside a team of five. Cirkul CMO Steve Battista previously worked with Werner while at Under Armour, where he was SVP of brand for more than 16 years. After joining Cirkul in May and realizing the brand wasn’t optimizing its PR resources, Battista said his first call was to Werner. “The technology behind Cirkul is so much more than a bottle. That's really what drew me in,” Battista said. “The story that needs to be told, and is being told, but needs to be told on a larger scale, is something that made me think of [Werner] and his team right away.” Prior to hiring MWW, Cirkul worked with consultants for PR support, the agency said. Cirkul has “very strong” in-house creative, content creation, social and media teams in place, Battista said. A PR team to support its communications and brand awareness was the natural next step. “[Cirkul has] had incredible success to date without all of America even knowing the brand,” Werner said. “It's one of the fastest-growing brands in the U.S. and the next chapter is how do we drive that amazing brand awareness.” Cirkul was founded in 2016 by Andy Gay and Garrett Waggoner. The beverage company, headquartered in Tampa, Florida, manufactures customizable, reusable water bottles featuring patented cartridge technology with over 150 flavor options. MikeWorldWide reported an 8% revenue decrease to $49 million globally and a 5% dip to $46 million in the U.S. in 2023, according to PRWeek’s Agency Business Report 2024.
