Zigbang eyes global smart home market

Jan 22, 2025

The Korea Times Posted : 2025-01-22 17:00 By Nam Hyun-woo Zigbang, the operator of Korea’s leading real estate brokerage app, is expanding its portfolio with smart home appliances, releasing a digital door lock without passcodes in the global market. According to the company on Wednesday, it launched its Haven smart door lock in Singapore and Hong Kong as well as Korea. It is the first artificial intelligence (AI)-embedded smart door lock that the company released after acquiring Samsung SDS’ home Internet of Things business in 2022. Instead of typing passcodes for access, the door lock allows users to open the door by tapping their smartphone to the door lock or through AI-based facial recognition. Unlike conventional digital door locks relying on keys or digital number pads, which face security concerns such as loss or password leaks, Haven removed physical security vulnerabilities by eliminating the number pad. Including Hong Kong and Singapore, the company additionally plans to launch the door lock in China, Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia and Thailand. Along with Haven, Zigbang said it plans to roll out a number of smart door lock products and lobby phones for multi-unit homes and apartments, which will feature facial recognition and video call functions. Zigbang plans to focus on promoting its new products set to launch this year in its base markets such as China and Southeast Asia, and aims to expand its presence to Japan, North America and the Middle East in the near future. “Zigbang seeks to introduce AI technology into its smart home solutions so that we can provide innovative living experiences to consumers,” Zigbang CEO Ahn Sung-woo said. "With our technology and operation know-how, we will make a leap forward as a globally recognized smart home brand.”
